Palin now sees a conspiracy in the placement of "In God We Trust" on US coins...

...she began her remarks with a puzzling commentary on the design of newly minted dollar coins.

Noting that there had been a lot of “change” of late, Palin recalled a recent conversation with a friend about how the phrase “In God We Trust” had been moved to the edge of the new coins.

“Who calls a shot like that?” she demanded. “Who makes a decision like that?”

She added: “It’s a disturbing trend.”

The change was as a result of legislation by 2 Senate Christians - one of them a darling of the religious right-wing - Sam Brownback (R-KS) and Robert Byrd (D-WV).

Former Senate Majority leader Bill Frist on Sarah Palin's contention that health care legislation will set up 'death panels' - a charge she recently repeated:

What do you make of Sarah Palin's claims that there are death panels in the bill?

I dont buy it. I've read the legislation. It's three sentences in there. It says basically compensate doctors for the time that they spend talking about end of life issues to patients and to individuals.

Frist is also a former physician.

Stories about Palin are now appearing in both the "US" and "Entertainment" sections of Google News - as befits her tabloid status.

Palin floats possibility of joining forces with Fox News firebrand Beck

         Shocked              2funny               idiot

Sarah Palin has suggested Fox News firebrand Glenn Beck could be someone she'd consider as a running mate if she makes a bid for the White House in two years.

"I can envision a couple of different combinations, if ever I were to be in a position to really even seriously consider running for anything in the future, and I'm not there yet," Palin told the conservative news agency Newsmax as she promoted her memoir, "Going Rogue: An American Life."

"But Glenn Beck I have great respect for. He's a hoot. He gets his message across in such a clever way. And he's so bold - I have to respect that. He calls it like he sees it, and he's very, very, very effective."

Needless to say, it's a potential ticket that has some moderate Republicans squeamish.

"It's not going to happen; it's not anybody's dream," Republican strategist Charles Black, who worked on John McCain's presidential campaign last year, said Wednesday when reached at his D.C. office.

"It's way too early to be focused on it. We don't even know who's going to run."

So you think the GOP will be able to jettison her influence and notoriety?

I think that hardcore group of her fans - 35% of the GOP - will carry her far into the primaries, perhaps to the nomination itself.

Hot off the wires:

...68 percent of Iowa Republicans view Palin favorably, according to the Des Moines Register's Iowa poll. Palin ranked higher than former House Speaker Newt Gingrich, who won 66 percent of Iowa Republicans' approval. She also beat out former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney, who is viewed favorably by 58 percent of the state's GOP voters.

Former Arkansas Gov. Mike Huckabee, who won the 2008 Iowa caucuses in his bid for the GOP presidential nomination, still has higher approval ratings than Palin at 70 percent, according to the poll. A comparison with Huckabee's numbers also reveal Palin's weaknesses. Twice as many Iowa Republicans hold an unfavorable view of Palin as they do of Huckabee.

Although he's a social conservative, I'm guessing that ol' Huck will split the moderate GOP vote with Romney and perhaps as many as several others. That leaves Sarah in the catbird's seat.

Do you find it strange that no one on the left seemed to care about fact-checking either Obama or the climate change (Al Gore) so-called "scientists" who only seemed to think that only peer-reviewed research was okay, and also that they were the only ones who were qualified to peer-review? Kinda a circular argument, eh? Nice way to make sure that that the science is settled, if all of the peer-reviewers are on your side, is it not?

the latest bit on Palin that I've heard - She tweeted that she was going to participate in a 5K "Turkey Trot" Race for charity. (I don't remember where) Apparently she started the race but didn't bother to finish it. What I read was that she was worried about the crowds of her supporters at the finish line. If this story is true it's just one more glaring example of a women who has serious completion issues.

Do you find it strange that no one on the left seemed to care about fact-checking either Obama...

Obama was a Senator when his book was released, not a current or former candidate for national office.

No, I don't find it strange at all. Peer-review is just what it says, peer-review. For example, you don't call in folks that believe that "The Flintstones" is actual history to seriously review geology, biology, or anything based on the scientific method. You use scientific experts in the field. They argue it out (usually with bare knuckles) and a consensus emerges. It isn't dogma, and is always subject to change and revision.

I should add that the harshest criticism of Palin's book has come not from "Leftists" (whatever you think they are) but from Republicans.
